joel optimizedJoel Attis has a background in three distinct disciplines – law, business, and financial services. After practicing corporate/commercial law for 11 years, Joel opted to resign from the active practice of law to focus his full attention on the growth and development of Stardust Enterprises Ltd., of which he was founder and President. Stardust conceptualized, developed and operated a variety of hospitality enterprises in Greater Moncton. Upon selling his business interests in 2002, Joel embarked upon his third career – as founder and principal of AttisCorp Wealth Management, a boutique financial advisory and wealth management consultancy, catering to business owners and professionals in NB, NS, ON & AB.

In December 2017 Joel sold his wealth management firm to Louisbourg Investments, and joined the Louisbourg team as an investment advisor, where he continues to manage the assets of business owners and professionals, along with their families.

Throughout his career, Joel has been very involved in his community. He has served as a Governor on the University of New Brunswick’s Board of Governors, and as well served on their Investment Committee. He was a Director on the New Brunswick Law Foundation; Director on the Conference for Advanced Life Underwriting, and as a Trustee on the New Brunswick Law Society’s Scholarship Trust. He was the Vice-Chair of the NB Investment Management Corporation (now Vestcor) from 2008 to 2014, and also had a brief stint as Chair of the Capitol Theatre, Moncton’s cultural gem. He has served as a director on the Greater Moncton Chamber of Commerce, Codiac Regional Policing Authority, the YMCA Foundation, the Capitol Theatre Foundation and the Moncton Hospital Fundraising Advisory Board.

Joel is a graduate of the Directors Education Program at the Rotman School of Management (University of Toronto), and obtained the ICD.D designation, qualifying him as a certified board director. He holds a Bachelor of Commerce degree from Dalhousie University together with a Bachelor of Laws degree from UNB. He is a chartered investment manager (CIM®), Chartered Life Underwriter (CLU®), and a Certified Financial Planner (CFP®).He holds the TEP® designation as a member of the Society of Trust & Estate Practitioners, and is a Fellow of the Canadian Securities Institute.

Joel has been a columnist for the Moncton Times & Transcript for the past 15 years, writing articles of interest under the header “Financial Planning Tips”.
